SP-27 is a fused, high purity magnesia-alumina spinel grain (MgAl2O4) is produced by the electric furnace co-fusion of high purity magnesia and Bayer process alumina. After solidification and cooling, it is crushed and graded to desired sizes.
SP-27 is used in the manufacture of refractories for aluminum and magnesium metal contact, as well as in cement and lime kiln linings.
Bauxite Spinel is a high purity magnesia-alumina spinel grain. This spinel is produced by fusing high purity magnesia and bauxite in an electric arc furnace.
Bauxite Spinel will find use in refractory applications including cement and lime kiln linings, aluminum and magnesium metal contact, and in steel contact applications.
