Aerospace engineering is the designing of aircraft, spacecraft, satellites and missiles, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). It is a complex, scientific, precision-based branch of technology and industry concerned with both aviation and space flight. The manufacture and performance of highly intricate components require a fused mineral manufacturer that can supply consistent abrasive grain for surface preparation on aerospace products such as; turbine blades, engine parts and components, gears, gear shafts, bearings, washers, housing bushings, plate and many more.

Washington Mills manufactures brown and white fused aluminum oixde abrasive grains and powders to meet the toughest specifications which include but limited to; Pratt & Whitney (PMC), General Electric (GE) D50TF5-S8 Class D, and military CID A-A-59316, MIL A21380 B, CID-AA-59316, CSS12. All fused aluminum oxide products are certified to ANSI B74.12 (Table 2 or 3) and checked for minimum chemistry requirements every fusion.
Owning its own furnaces, Washington Mills is the only North American manufacturer of fused minerals. We offer a unique position to control the quality and chemistry of fused minerals from start to finish. Click here to watch a video on the manufacturing process.
